1.         FRESH FLOWERS to be focal point in all displays and arrangements.

2.        All flowers to be grown by the exhibitor.

3.        All exhibits to be in place between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6th.

4.        All exhibits to be removed between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, September 10th.

5.        Flowers, plants must be clean, insect and disease free.

6.        All classes are open to men and women.

7.        Renfrew Agricultural Society cannot be responsible for containers of value if lost or broken.

8.        One entry ONLY in each section number.

RULES FOR EXHIBITORS

1.         Cut flowers are to be shown on their own stem with their own foliage.

2.        Cut flowers should be as uniform in size as possible and if more than one bloom is requested try to use the same colour if possible.

3.        Make sure to measure the diameter of the blooms and enter the proper size in the proper section.

4.        A stem is a plant structure carrying one or more flowers and/or buds.

5.        A bloom is an individual flower, one to a stem.

6.        If a bud is showing colour it is considered a bloom.

7.        Exhibits must contain the exact number of flowers specified in the section.

8.        Remove wilted petals and remove any debris from the pot.  It benefits you to ensure all containers are clean.

9.        In dahlia classes the blooms should be approximately 45 degree angle from stem.

10.      The ideal gladiola spike should be one third open blooms, one third bud and one third green shown in a container that keeps the stem upright.  If necessary pebbles etc. may be used in the container to keep the stem in an upright position.

11.       African violets should contain only a single crown per pot.

12.      In floral arrangements, the large flowers and strong colours are best placed at the base of the exhibit and the arrangement shall be viewed from all sides unless otherwise specified.  The oasis or mechanics of an arrangement should not be visible.

13.      Please note that an arrangement requires a fixative such as an oasis and a display does not have an oasis of fixative.

14.      Make sure you note the size of the container or the measurements specified for each entry.  When doing arrangements a miniature design is not to exceed 5” (13 cm) in any direction including the container base and accessories, small designs are 5.5” (14 cm) to 10” (26 cm) and must not to exceed 10” (26 cm) in any direction including the container base and accessories.

15.      If an arrangement requires a candle please ensure that it has been pre-lit and then extinguished prior to exhibiting.

16.      No noxious or invasive weeds to be used in exhibits.

17.      Please note all entries are judged on a point system.  If an entry does not meet the 1st place criteria then a second or third place ribbon will be awarded at the discretion of the judge.

NOTE:  GLADIOLUS MUST BE IN A TALL STURDY GLASS CONTAINER.  Refer to rule 10 for further information.

Note:  Plants must be grown and established in the exhibiting pot and not recently transplanted.

72.       Ivy – established – in a suitable container.

73.       Geranium – in bloom, 1 plant, any colour not the ivy type geranium.

74.       A planter containing at least 3 established plants. Pot not to exceed 10″ in diameter (inside measurement of pot).

75.       Coleus – A collection of 3 or more plants in a pot.

76.       Potted Herb, identified, pot not to exceed 10” (25 cm)

77.       One houseplant – foliage plant, no blooms allowed – other than Ivy, cacti or succulent – named

78.       African Violet – Single or Double, in bloom, single crown.

79.       Cactus – 1 plant.

80.       Succulent – 1 plant – plant to be named

81.       Begonias – 1 basket or pot of fibrous begonias, planted established and in bloom.

82.       Begonias – 1 basket or pot of tuberous begonias, planted established and in bloom.

In section 83 the prize money will be:

                                                1st – $12.00, 2nd – $8.00, 3rd – $5.00
