Judging will begin at 9 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2024.
GENERAL RULES
- All exhibitors must be members of the Renfrew Agricultural Society. $10.00 membership fee allows a member to exhibit in other sections of the fair.
- All entries will be received in Exhibit Hall between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
- All applicable rules of the Renfrew Agricultural Society will apply.
- Entries to be removed at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
- No exhibitor may exhibit more than one entry in each section.
In each section of Classes 24, 25 and 26, the prize money will be:
1st – $7.00: 2nd – $6.00: 3rd – $5.00: 4th – $4.00: 5th – $3.00
$2.00 will be given to each remaining credible entry.
HAY – CLASS 24
In order to assist in the encouragement of Better Quality hay, the Renfrew Agricultural Society will be sponsoring a Hay Show as one of the special features.
RULES
- All hay must be of the 2024 crop.
- The exhibit must consist of one 4” flake of hay, machine baled, undisturbed, placed in a plastic bag.
- Haylage to be exhibited in plastic grain bags.
NOTE: Plastic bags are compliments of the Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association and are available from the fair office.
SECTION
- First Cut Hay – alfalfa, 85% or more alfalfa.
- First Cut Hay – legume other than alfalfa, at least 85% legume.
- First Cut Hay – legume and grass mixture, at least 30% grass or legume.
- First Cut Hay – grass, 85% grass or more.
- Second or Third Cut Hay – legume, 85% legume or more.
- Second or Third Cut Hay – grass and legume mixture, at least 30% grass or legume.
- Haylage.
- Straw.

Class – One 4” flake, machine baled, 1st cut hay placed in a clear plastic bag from a large square bale.

LARGE BALE SAMPLES MUST BE CUT TO A SIMILAR SIZE.
CHAMPION HAY, GRAIN & SEED EXHIBIT – $100.00 credit towards forage, grain or cover crop seed – SPONSORED BY M & R FEEDS, RENFREW AND SPEARE SEEDS.
CORN – CLASS 25
The purpose of this class is to demonstrate the value of high yielding, early maturing Hybrid corn varieties for ensilage and grain with high feeding value.
SECTION
- Sheaf of 6 stalks ensilage corn, Hybrid to be named.
- Eight cobs of corn, Hybrid to be named.
- Shelled corn, 2.5 kgs.
- Corn silage.
- Tallest corn stalk with root; at least one cob
- Shelled corn bin run unaltered.
CHAMPION CORN EXHIBIT – $100.00 off the purchase price of seed corn – SPONSORED BY GALBRAITH/JOCKBRAE FARMS.
GRAIN AND SEEDS – CLASS 26
RULES
- The quantity of all exhibits must be 2.5 kgs. No prize will be allowed on a lesser quantity. To be shown in plastic bags supplied by the Renfrew Agricultural Society and available at the fair office.
- Grain and seed grown in the previous year are also eligible provided they have not been shown previously at the Renfrew Fair.
